MDW WordPress Tutorial Magazine

Before you start

If you've skipped the lesson about the Page Templates, go back and learn how to add the Magazine Template in Pages. Without that, your Magazine widget will not work at all.

  1. Go to the Widgets. On the right side, of the dashboard find MDW Magazine widget. Drag and drop it in the Magazine page widget area.

  2. It's important to use Magazine widget only in the Magazine area. If you put for example any Intro widget in the Magazine area it will work, however, it will be placed in wrong tags in your HTML code. In a result, your website positioning will be worse than usual.

  3. Now let's edit our new widget. Choose the version which you prefer. Remember, those different versions have a different number of column.
  4. Don't forget to assign Magazine to the Page to display widget. Otherwise, Magazine template will be set in all of your pages.
  5. It is necessary to add widget also in the Magazine header. Otherwise, the following text will be pinned at the top of the website:

Please assign widgets to this magazine header in admin dashboard

You can add any widget, for example, MDW quote. Drag and drop it into the Magazine header.

Optional steps - setting the front page

  1. To use your Magazine Template as a front page on your website, you have to change the settings. Go to the Settings and then Reading.
  2. Near the Front page displays label you can see 2 available options. Choose A static page then select as the Front Page your page with a Magazine template. Save the changes.
  3. If everything is ready, click Save, and go to your homepage to check the results.
